AI PDF renamer
AI PDF Renamer for Scans and Invoices
Rename scanned PDFs, invoices, receipts, and contracts by content on Mac and Windows. Use local AI, review every filename, then apply the approved batch.
- Reads text PDFs directly and analyzes scanned PDF pages visually when no text layer is available.
- Handles folders of invoices, receipts, contracts, reports, and other PDFs in one reviewable batch.
- Runs with local AI by default, so sensitive documents do not need to be uploaded.
Every proposed PDF name stays editable. Nothing changes on disk until you approve and apply the batch.

Rename PDFs from the information inside them
Basic bulk renamers can add dates, counters, or prefixes, but they cannot tell whether scan_001.pdf is an invoice, a signed contract, or a medical report. RenameClick uses the PDF content to suggest a name that identifies the document.
For repeatable archives, add custom instructions for the fields you need, such as document type, issuer, date, invoice number, amount, client, or contract party.
- Invoices: date, vendor, invoice number, and optional amount.
- Contracts: agreement type, parties, and effective date.
- Receipts and statements: merchant or institution plus date and period.
Text PDFs and scanned PDFs follow different paths
When a PDF contains selectable text, RenameClick can use that extracted text. When a PDF is a scan without a text layer, it uses image-style analysis of the visible first page. Clear, upright scans produce more specific names than blurred or cropped pages.
Start with a small representative batch so you can confirm the naming pattern before processing an archive.
Bulk rename without giving up review
Drop a PDF folder into the Rename workspace, generate suggestions, then edit, retry, deselect, or approve each row. Applying names is a separate step, and undo is available for applied operations.
This review-first flow is useful for financial, legal, medical, and client documents where a plausible but incorrect filename is costly.
Keep confidential PDFs local
The Local provider runs on your Mac or Windows PC after its one-time model download. You can rename invoices, contracts, scans, and internal reports without sending their content to a web upload workflow.
FAQ
Can AI rename PDF files based on their content?
Yes. RenameClick analyzes PDF text or visible scan content and suggests descriptive filenames that you can edit before applying.
Can I bulk rename scanned invoices and receipts?
Yes. Add a folder of scanned PDFs, use consistent instructions for fields such as vendor and date, then review the whole batch before applying names.
Does the PDF renamer work offline?
Yes. With the Local provider, document analysis runs on your computer and does not require uploading PDFs.
What happens when a scanned PDF has no text layer?
RenameClick analyzes the visible first page like an image. Scan quality and page orientation can affect how specific the suggested name is.
