RenameClick
Getting Started

How It Works

A quick overview of the RenameClick workflow — from dropping files to applying AI-generated names.

The Workflow

  1. Drop files into the workspace (drag & drop, browse, or right-click from Finder/Explorer)
  2. AI analyzes the content of each file — reading text from documents, understanding images
  3. Review suggestions — AI-generated names appear next to original filenames
  4. Apply changes — Rename, move to category folders, or both with one click
  5. Undo anytime — Full undo/redo support for all operations

Three Workspaces

RenameClick has three main workspaces, each designed for a different workflow:

WorkspacePurposeKey Action
RenameBatch rename and categorize filesDrop files → AI suggests names → Apply
AI SearchFind files by meaningEnter search query → AI scans folder → See matches
Auto FlowAutomated folder watchingSet source/destination → Watch On → Files processed automatically

Privacy First

  • Local-first: The built-in LLM runs entirely on your machine. No data leaves your computer.
  • Optional cloud: Switch to OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Alibaba Cloud on specific tasks.
  • Local servers: Connect to LM Studio or Ollama if you prefer running your own models.
  • Your choice: Provider selection is always in your hands. The app never sends files anywhere without your explicit configuration.

Platforms

  • macOS (Apple Silicon & Intel) — DMG installer with auto-updates
  • Windows — Available on Microsoft Store (AppX/MSIX)

System Requirements

  • Local AI model: ~4 GB RAM for the bundled model
  • GPU acceleration: Automatic on macOS (Metal), intelligent GPU/CPU selection on Windows (Vulkan, SYCL, or CPU fallback)
  • Storage: ~4 GB for the AI model download
  • No internet required after initial model download (when using local provider)
